Stages: study, preliminary design
The building takes a prestigious place in the centre of Sofia, right behind the National Art Gallery and it is a cultural monument. The property was purchased by Bulgarian National Bank for the needs of the administration department of “Bank Supervision” and after research on the zoning of the central building of BNB on Batenberg Sq., a decision for new areas for the administration control was taken.
The concept and preliminary studies considered the needs of BNB at that time. The terrace on the northeast facade was turned into a cafe and recreation zone. The preliminary project was coordinated with the Institute for the cultural monuments.
Further design development was concluded by Monolith-3 construction company under guidance of architect Stefanova and architect Stanchev.
The restoration of the facade used qualitative materials. The impressive facade lightning was an important feature in the new vision of the building.
